Origin is a digital distribution service by Electronic Arts (EA) for digital game downloads. Origin is the successor to EA Download Manager, EA Downloader and EA Link. Origin was released in June 2011 with support for many EA games. Origin is similar to popular digital distribution for games service, Steam, for features.

The Origin client makes it easier to manage your games and download updates. A library view allows you to see at a glance your Origin enabled games. From here, you can buy expansions, and downloadable content (DLC) which downloads right away. Origin also keeps your games up to date, making it easy to have your games free of bugs or crashes.

Origin provides an in-game overlay, allowing you to chat with friends while playing. This can be handy when playing multiplayer and you need to coordinate during gameplay.

Players can also add some older EA games purchased in retail boxes to Origin. Entering the respective CD key(s) for the games is all that's required. There is some limitations to older games with this feature, as not every game is Origin supported.

Origin is best used for gamers who play games released by EA. This official client will make it easy to manage your games, now and in the future.
